Guided by Dr. Paul Nagy, Star Liu, a first-year PhD student in the BIDS program, recently published in JAMIA Open on their framework for tracking and evaluating the growth and impact of the Observational Health Data Sciences and Informatics (OHDSI) open science community. This paper is special also because it was published on 02/29, which does not come around often. Read more about the publication here.
This project got Star more interested in involved in OHDSI-related research activities. He is now involved in several clinical research studies that aim to evolve into network studies. Branching off of these projects, he hopes to conduct multimodal analyses, leveraging clinical, textual, and imaging data. Meanwhile, he continues to tackle uncertainty estimation in machine learning for decision-making using decision sciences and utility theory.
