Harold Lehmann received the 2024 Graduate Student Teaching Award. This Award, established in 1986 by the Graduate Student Association, recognizes excellent in teaching and mentoring at the graduate level in the biomedical sciences. “This Award is great advertising for the BIDS program!” he reports. A moving and meaningful privilege of this award is that Dr. Lehmann administered the Scientist’s Oath to the graduating PhD students in the May 2024 Meyerhoff Hall ceremony. This Oath has been part of the School of Medicine ceremony since 2014 and speaks to the graduate’s commitment to scientific honesty, integrity and their role in the scientific and larger community. Dr Lehmann was the founding director of the BIDS (then, “DHSI”) training program. He received the Department of Medicine David M. Levine Excellence in Mentorship Award in 2020.
