Three of our BIDS students participated in the 2024 Hexcite cohort. Hexcite is a medical software start-up generator program for entrepreneurs hosted by the Johns Hopkins Medicine Technology Innovation Center in collaboration with Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures. Each team in the cohort has a clinical lead, a technical lead, a design lead, and a business lead. Heather Chou and Xiaorui Shi participated as the technical lead and design lead, respectively, on the Provider Pulse team. This team developed an AI-based clinical monitoring tool to help detect and prevent clinical provider burnout. Vidith Phillips served as technical lead on the HINTS team. This team developed a mobile app for detecting stroke. The four Hexcite teams presented at the Final Pitch event, which recently took place in person in East Baltimore. This event is the culmination of 16 weeks of customer discovery, prototype design, and commercialization planning.
Heather and Xiaorui’s Provider Pulse team was selected as the audience favorite at the Final Pitch event. Vidith’s HINTS team was the judge’s choice at the Final Pitch. We are proud that our students participated in this innovative program, and excited that they were on the winning teams!
