"Applications of Natural Language Processing in Identifying Language Disorders"

Masoud Rouhizadeh, PhD

Dr. Masoud Rouhizadeh is a Natural Language Processing expert at the Center for Clinical Data Analysis (CCDA), a Founding Member of the Center for Clinical Natural Language Processing (C2NLP), and a Faculty Instructor at the Center of Excellence Analytics in Medicine Program (CAMP) within the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He obtained his Ph.D. from Oregon Health and Science University (2015) and continued with postdoctoral training at the University of Pennsylvania (2017). His research focuses on text mining and information extraction methods to identify disease, medications, symptoms, and signs from clinical text, as well as artificial intelligence techniques for sentiment analysis, opinion mining, and exploring social determinants of health. He has also worked on detecting signals relevant to mental well-being and mental health conditions such as autism, depression, cognitive impairment, and dementia.
